Alex Rivera is a filmmaker and digital media artist. Over the past 8 years he’s engaged with digital imaging technology to tell new, urgent Latino stories. His work consistently aspires to push the limits of the form - occasionally through the use of humor and satire, occasionally through subtle, stylistic interventions.

Other Accomplishments
Tepeyac School of Communications 2000 - present
Alex Rivera worked with La Associación Tepeyac, the largest association of Mexican immigrants in New York, to found a video school. The school exists within the association and is now run by members of the association and funded by grants. Students of the school have produced both documentary and fictional videos about their experiences as undocumented immigrants in New York City.

SubCine.com 2000 - present
Working with eleven other filmmakers, Alex Rivera founded SubCine.com, a distributor entirely focused on selling Latino film and video to the educational market. The distributor is unique in that it is structured as a collective, allowing the makers to promote the work of other members as they promote their own work, and to retain more profit from each sale.
